Samsung One UI 9 Update Rolls Out: Eligible Galaxy Phones and New Features

Samsung has begun the official rollout of its Android 17-based One UI 9 update, starting with the Galaxy S26 series. The update brings new Galaxy AI capabilities, My FanCam, smarter Now Brief cards, Now Nudge, privacy improvements and expanded scam protection, while more Galaxy phones and tablets are expected to receive One UI 9 gradually.
Samsung officially began expanding One UI 9 on September 16, 2026, starting with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The software had already debuted on Samsung's newest foldable devices the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. Samsung says the update will gradually reach more Galaxy devices, although availability and timing can vary by model, country and network operator.
For Galaxy users, One UI 9 is more than another visual refresh. Samsung is putting greater emphasis on context-aware Galaxy AI, content creation, privacy and security, translation and easier device management.
Which Samsung phones are getting One UI 9 first?
The Galaxy S26 series is at the front of Samsung's stable update expansion.
The initial rollout covers:
Device | One UI 9 status |
Galaxy S26 | Stable rollout started |
Galaxy S26+ | Stable rollout started |
Galaxy S26 Ultra | Stable rollout started |
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra | Launched with One UI 9 |
Galaxy Z Fold8 | Launched with One UI 9 |
Galaxy Z Flip8 | Launched with One UI 9 |
Samsung's global announcement confirms the September 16 rollout for the Galaxy S26 family and says the software will gradually expand to other Galaxy devices.
That distinction matters: a device being compatible with One UI 9 does not necessarily mean the stable update is already available in every country.
Which older Galaxy phones are in the One UI 9 rollout picture?
Samsung has already included several previous-generation flagships in its One UI 9 beta programme.
In September, the company expanded beta access to the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 FE in selected markets, including India.
Samsung's own One UI 9 documentation also identifies a wider group of Galaxy devices for specific One UI 9 functionality such as Privacy Alerts. That list includes models from the Galaxy S25, S24 and S23 families; Fold7/Flip7, Fold6/Flip6 and Fold5/Flip5; and Galaxy Tab S11, Tab S10 and Tab S9 families.
However, that feature-support list should not be interpreted as a universal rollout timetable.
Samsung says update schedules and eligible models can change, and supported features may vary according to the model, country and network operator.
What’s new in the Samsung One UI 9 update?
One UI 9 combines interface improvements with a larger collection of Galaxy AI tools.
One of the most visible new additions is My FanCam.
The feature can automatically follow a selected person in recorded video and reframe the footage to keep that subject centred. Samsung positions it as a way of creating more usable clips from performances, sporting events and other moving scenes without extensive manual editing.
Now Brief becomes more customizable
Samsung is also expanding Now Brief, its personalized information hub.
One UI 9 introduces Generative and Editable Cards, allowing users to choose and create cards around information such as health, weather and video.
The aim is to make the daily briefing more relevant to an individual user rather than displaying the same information structure for everyone.
Samsung notes that Now Brief requires a Samsung Account and that available functions can vary by country, language, device and app.
Now Nudge adds context-aware Galaxy AI suggestions
Another major Galaxy AI addition is Now Nudge.
Instead of waiting for a user to explicitly open another application, Now Nudge can surface suggestions according to what the person is currently doing.
For example, Samsung says that while making plans through messaging, the system could help retrieve reservation information or save a shared location without requiring the user to leave the conversation.
The feature works with supported messaging services including Samsung Messages, Google Messages and Google Chat, although functionality varies by region, language and application.
Creative Studio gets smarter suggestions
Samsung is also making its generative creative tools more proactive.
Creative Studio can suggest image-generation ideas based on upcoming events. If a birthday is approaching, for example, the system could suggest creating a personalized greeting or themed image.
It represents Samsung's broader shift from AI features that wait for commands toward software that can offer contextual suggestions.
Interpreter gets Thread View
Samsung's Interpreter feature gains a new Thread View designed to make translated conversations easier to follow.
Instead of treating each translated exchange in isolation, users can refer back to earlier parts of a conversation.
Samsung also says Conversation Mode translation is faster, while compatible Galaxy Buds can provide quicker translated-audio playback.
Document Scan and Voice Recorder improve
One UI 9 also includes practical productivity improvements.
Document Scan is designed to handle difficult source material more effectively, including curved book pages and folded corners. Samsung has also improved Finger Eraser to help clean up scans.
Voice Recorder, meanwhile, presents AI-generated summaries in a more structured format using elements such as headings and tables.
These may be less headline-grabbing than generative AI, but they could prove useful for students, professionals and people who regularly digitize documents or record meetings.
One UI 9 adds new privacy alerts
Privacy and security are another major part of the update.
A new Security Brief can bring information about malware, unknown-source applications and unnecessary permissions into Now Brief.
Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts by applications to access permissions in the background.
Rather than simply blocking everything automatically, the feature is intended to make users more aware of what applications are doing and allow them to decide whether action is needed.
Scam Detection is expanding to India
This is one of the most relevant One UI 9 developments for Indian Galaxy users.
Samsung has confirmed that Scam Detection will be available in India, alongside Japan and Canada.
The feature is intended to provide additional protection against potential scam calls, although Samsung cautions that availability can vary by region, language, device and One UI version.
For India, where phone-based financial and impersonation scams remain an important digital-safety issue, this could become one of One UI 9's more practically useful additions.
Warranty and Care moves deeper into Settings
One UI 9 also makes device support easier to access.
The new Warranty and Care section allows users to check warranty coverage for connected mobile devices, perform self-diagnostics, see available repair information, manage Samsung Care+ and, where supported, book service appointments.
Some services, including repair estimates and Samsung Care+ options, vary by country and device.
One UI 9 also improves the Galaxy interface
Beyond Galaxy AI, Samsung has made broader interface changes.
Samsung's official One UI documentation describes redesigned navigation bars and menus, improved layouts and refinements intended to make the interface easier to use.
Foldables receive particular attention. One UI 9 supports improved multitasking layouts, including two-way and three-way split views, while DeX adds additional window-snapping options.
Is One UI 9 available in India?
India is part of Samsung's One UI 9 programme, but availability depends on the device.
Samsung included India among the markets participating in the expanded One UI 9 beta programme for models including the Galaxy S25 series, Fold7 and Flip7.
The stable rollout itself is staged. Therefore, Galaxy users in India should not assume that an update announced globally will appear simultaneously on every Indian device.
Carrier, model and regional certification can affect timing.
How to check for the One UI 9 update
Galaxy users can check manually by opening:
Settings → Software update → Download and install
The phone will then check whether a new software build is available.
Samsung also recommends its Samsung Members app for information about One UI compatibility and release schedules.
Before installing a major operating-system update, users should keep sufficient free storage available, charge the device and back up important data.
Will every One UI 9 phone get every Galaxy AI feature?
Not necessarily.
This is an important qualification for buyers and existing Galaxy owners.
Samsung explicitly says AI-feature availability can vary depending on the device model. Several individual One UI 9 functions also depend on region, language, Samsung Account access or compatible applications.
Older Galaxy phones may therefore receive One UI 9 without receiving every AI capability available on newer hardware.
Updated+ Note
Samsung's One UI 9 rollout is being conducted in stages. An eligible or feature-supported device should not be interpreted as having received the stable update immediately. Model availability, individual AI features and rollout dates can differ by market, language, carrier and hardware.
