FASTag Annual Pass 2026: Price, Eligibility, 200 Trips and How to Apply

For frequent highway travellers, India's FASTag Annual Pass 2026 offers an alternative to paying a user fee separately on every eligible toll crossing.
For FY 2026–27, the Annual Pass costs ₹3,075 and provides up to 200 eligible toll-plaza crossings or 12 months of validity from activation, whichever comes first. It is designed for eligible non-commercial vehicles and works through the vehicle's existing FASTag.
But the Annual Pass does not mean unlimited toll-free travel across every road in India. Eligibility, the type of vehicle, the toll plaza and the way crossings are counted all matter.
Here's what vehicle owners should know before buying it.
What is the FASTag Annual Pass?
The FASTag Annual Pass is a prepaid toll product introduced for eligible private vehicles travelling through designated National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas.
The scheme became effective on August 15, 2025. Instead of paying the applicable user fee separately at each eligible crossing, motorists can activate the Annual Pass on an existing eligible FASTag.
For FY 2026–27, the pass provides:
₹3,075 one-time paymentUp to 200 crossings12 months validity
The first of the last two limits to be reached ends the pass benefits.

The ₹3,075 fee took effect on April 1, 2026, replacing the ₹3,000 fee applicable in FY 2025–26.
FASTag Annual Pass 2026: Who is eligible?
The Annual Pass is intended for eligible non-commercial vehicles.
According to NHAI's current terms, motorists need a valid Registration Certificate and a functional FASTag linked to the same vehicle registration number and properly affixed to the windscreen. Blacklisted, hotlisted or improperly affixed FASTags are not eligible.
The government's July 2026 statement specifically describes the scheme as covering non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans.
The pass is not transferable from one vehicle to another.
NHAI states that misuse—including using the FASTag on a different vehicle—can result in deactivation without refund.
How does the 200-crossing limit work?
This is one of the most important details to understand.
At a conventional open toll plaza, one passage in one direction counts as one crossing.
Therefore:
Home → Destination = 1 crossing
Destination → Home = 1 more crossing
So a round trip through the same conventional toll plaza normally uses two of the 200 crossings.
There is an important exception for closed tolling systems. In those systems, a valid entry-and-exit pair is counted as one crossing.
How 200 Crossings Work
Which toll plazas accept the FASTag Annual Pass?
The pass is not a universal India-wide toll pass.
NHAI's current terms specify that it applies only at eligible NHAI-operated National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas. NHAI maintains a searchable list of eligible plazas on the RajmargYatra portal.
The March 2026 fee revision said the facility was available at about 1,150 fee plazas. Since the eligible network can change, motorists should check the current NHAI list before purchasing the pass specifically for a regular route.
The pass should therefore not be assumed to cover toll facilities operated by state authorities, local bodies or other non-participating agencies.
How to apply for FASTag Annual Pass online
NHAI provides the Annual Pass through the RajmargYatra platform/NHAI system.
The current process is straightforward:
Enter the vehicle registration number.
Complete the required eligibility verification.
Confirm that the associated FASTag is eligible.
Pay ₹3,075.
The Annual Pass is linked to the eligible existing FASTag.
Do you need to buy a new FASTag?
Normally, no.
The Annual Pass is designed to work with an eligible existing FASTag associated with the vehicle. NHAI says the pass is activated on that FASTag after vehicle and FASTag eligibility are verified and payment is completed.
Buying another FASTag solely to obtain the Annual Pass is therefore unnecessary when the existing tag meets the eligibility requirements.
How long does FASTag Annual Pass activation take?
NHAI's March 2026 announcement states that the Annual Pass gets activated within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle after payment.
Users should ensure that their FASTag is active and properly linked to the vehicle before starting the process.
What happens after 200 crossings?
Once the 200-crossing allowance is exhausted—or the 12-month validity expires—the Annual Pass benefits end.
The FASTag itself does not stop working.
NHAI's terms say it returns to functioning as a regular FASTag, with normal applicable toll charges.
Unused crossings also do not carry forward. If the 12-month validity ends with some of the 200 crossings unused, they lapse without a refund.
Is FASTag KYV still required in 2026?
There has been an important change.
From February 1, 2026, NHAI discontinued the routine post-issuance Know Your Vehicle or KYV requirement for newly issued FASTags in the car/jeep/van category.
For existing car FASTags, KYV is also no longer required as a routine process. NHAI says it may still be required in specific cases involving complaints such as incorrect issuance, a loose FASTag or suspected misuse.
This should not be confused with the eligibility verification required when purchasing an Annual Pass.
Annual Pass vs regular FASTag
Is the ₹3,075 FASTag Annual Pass worth it?
Whether the Annual Pass saves money depends primarily on how often you use eligible toll plazas and the normal toll applicable to your route.
There is a useful simple calculation:
₹3,075 ÷ number of crossings you expect to use
If you use all 200 crossings:
₹3,075 ÷ 200 = about ₹15.38 per crossing.
That does not mean NHAI charges ₹15.38 per toll. It is simply the effective cost per crossing if the entire 200-crossing allowance is used.
For example, someone using only 50 eligible crossings would effectively be paying ₹61.50 per used crossing:
₹3,075 ÷ 50 = ₹61.50
So the pass becomes more attractive as eligible highway usage increases.
Is It Worth It?
How popular is the FASTag Annual Pass?
The latest government figures indicate substantial adoption.
As of June 2026, more than 77 lakh Annual Passes had been issued, generating around 63 crore transactions at National Highway fee plazas.
Annual Pass transactions represented approximately 33% of electronic toll collection transactions involving cars, jeeps and vans, according to a written reply by the Road Transport and Highways Minister in the Rajya Sabha on July 22.
That is a significant increase from the more than 56 lakh users reported when NHAI announced the revised fee in March 2026.
What should you check before buying?
Before paying ₹3,075, motorists should check their normal route on the official NHAI list of eligible toll plazas.
The Annual Pass makes the strongest financial sense for motorists who regularly cross participating National Highway or National Expressway fee plazas.
For occasional highway users—or motorists whose regular journeys mainly involve toll plazas outside the eligible network—a normal FASTag may remain more economical.
Also remember that the Annual Pass is optional. You can continue using your regular FASTag without purchasing one
