Disney+ is lining up a busy August 2026, with new movies, returning series, franchise revivals, family programming and major additions from Star Wars and Marvel. But for viewers who grew up with the Disney Channel era, one release is likely to command particular attention: Camp Rock 3.

The third instalment of the musical franchise will premiere on Disney Channel on August 13 before arriving on Disney+ on August 14, 2026. Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas return as Connect 3, while a new generation of campers enters the competition.

Elsewhere, August brings Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 3, new episodes of X-Men '97 Season 2, Sofia the First: Royal Magic, LION, LEGO Disney Princess: Magical Mayhem and more.

Camp Rock 3 Is the Big Disney+ August Highlight

Camp Rock is reopening its doors.

Disney is bringing back the franchise that began with Camp Rock in 2008 and continued with Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam in 2010, this time combining familiar characters with a new generation of performers.

In Camp Rock 3, Connect 3 loses its opening act ahead of a major reunion tour. The group returns to Camp Rock in search of the next big talent, setting up a competition among campers hoping for the chance to open for the band.

But the opportunity creates more than a musical contest. As the campers compete, friendships are tested and new alliances, revelations and romances emerge.

The film is directed by Veronica Rodriguez and written by Eydie Faye, with choreography by Jamal Sims.

Disney has scheduled the television premiere for August 13 on Disney Channel, followed by its Disney+ streaming debut on August 14.

The Jonas Brothers Return as Connect 3

A major link between the new film and the original franchise is the return of the Jonas Brothers.

Joe Jonas returns as Shane Gray, with Nick Jonas as Nate Gray and Kevin Jonas as Jason Gray. Maria Canals-Barrera also returns as Connie.

This time, however, the established characters are joined by a substantially new cast.

Liamani Segura plays Sage, Malachi Barton appears as Fletch, Lumi Pollack plays Rosie and Sherry Cola joins as Lark. Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter, Brooklynn Pitts and Ava Jean are also among the new additions.

The approach allows Disney to retain a direct connection to the original movies while positioning a younger group of characters at the centre of the new Camp Rock story.

Is Demi Lovato Returning in Camp Rock 3?

Demi Lovato remains connected to the franchise, but in a different role.

Disney lists Lovato as an executive producer on Camp Rock 3, alongside Tim Federle, Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Betsy Sullenger, Spencer Berman and Gary Marsh.

However, Disney's announced returning cast does not currently include Lovato as Mitchie Torres.

That distinction is important. While Lovato has an official behind-the-scenes role in the project, a return as Mitchie should not be assumed unless Disney announces it.

Music Remains at the Heart of Camp Rock

Music was central to the original films, and Disney is again building the new movie around original performances.

The first single from Camp Rock 3, One Beat Away, is performed by Liamani Segura and the cast.

Disney says the film's digital original soundtrack will be available on August 13, coinciding with the Disney Channel premiere.

The return of the Jonas Brothers alongside a new musical cast gives the film an opportunity to connect the franchise's original audience with younger Disney viewers discovering Camp Rock for the first time.

What Else Is Coming to Disney+ in August 2026?

Camp Rock isn't the only major franchise appearing on Disney+ during August.

Disney's schedule includes new Star Wars, Marvel and family programming alongside Korean drama, Pokémon, documentaries and sports content.

Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi Arrives August 5

Star Wars fans have another significant release arriving early in the month.

Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi premieres on August 5, with all episodes available for streaming.

The limited series expands stories introduced through Star Wars: Visions. It follows Kara as she continues her Jedi training under Margrave Juro.

Kara and Juro's group of Jedi-in-training embark on a mission to save her father while confronting the threat posed by a mysterious Sith leader.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Returns for Season 3

August 5 also brings the third season of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, with all episodes scheduled to arrive together.

The new season finds Billie dealing with the aftermath of losing Alex while discovering that rescuing her mother requires reconnecting with her long-lost father.

The Russo family must ultimately bring its powers together to confront the threat facing them.

X-Men '97 Season 2 Continues

Marvel fans will also find new episodes of X-Men '97 Season 2 throughout August.

The season finds members of the X-Men scattered across different periods of time as they attempt to find their way home. Meanwhile, the 1990s face new threats and growing mutant intolerance in their absence.

Disney+ Adds More Family Entertainment Later in August

Disney's family programming continues during the second half of the month.

Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert Celebration premieres August 16. Filmed at Disneyland Resort, the production brings together Disney Princess performers across animation, live action, stage and music.

On August 19, Sofia the First: Royal Magic continues Sofia's story as she attends the Charmswell School for Royal Magic and learns to master her growing powers.

Disney+ and Hulu will also premiere LION on August 20. From The Lion King director Jon Favreau and BBC Studios executive producer Mike Gunton, the natural-history series follows a lion cub named Kio on his journey towards adulthood.

LEGO Disney Princess: Magical Mayhem follows on August 21.

August Also Brings Venom and a New Simpsons Special

The final stretch of August adds another pair of recognisable franchises.

Venom: The Last Dance joins Disney+ on August 25.

A day later, Disney+ will debut The Simpsons: Yellow Mirror, an exclusive episode featuring two technology-infused stories. One involves a defective lamp changing Homer's perception of reality, while another centres on an AI-powered tablet that befriends and controls Maggie.

The additions broaden the August lineup beyond Disney's traditional family and franchise programming.

Why Camp Rock 3 Stands Out in the August Lineup

Disney+'s August calendar covers a wide range of audiences, but Camp Rock 3 occupies an unusual position.

Rather than simply rebooting the original concept, Disney is bringing back key members of Connect 3 while introducing new performers who can carry the story forward.

There is also a significant nostalgia factor. The original Camp Rock arrived in 2008, when Disney Channel musicals were an important part of youth pop culture. Disney says Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam rank among its Top 10 Disney Channel Original Movies.

The third film now arrives 18 years after the original, giving Disney an opportunity to reach adults who remember the first movies while introducing the franchise to younger streaming audiences.

Whether that combination can turn Camp Rock 3 into another enduring chapter of the franchise will become clearer when Camp Rock opens its doors again this August.
